In September of this past year, I had the distinct honor of traveling to France as part of an American delegation, representing both the 80th Division Veterans Association and the Battle of the Bulge Association. Walking in the very places where my grandfather (Dupre) and his comrades fought with such valor was an experience beyond words—both deeply moving and incredibly humbling.
Throughout my journey, I visited numerous cities, towns, and villages that bore witness to their sacrifices, including Toul—a city liberated by my grandfather’s unit, the 319th Regiment/Company I of Patton’s 80th Infantry Division. One of the most significant moments of the trip was the opportunity to unveil a monument in their honor, ensuring that their courage, dedication, and service will never be forgotten.
