Memorial Day Parade, Service, & Reception at Laurel Hill Cemetery
This annual ceremony takes place at Laurel Hill Cemetery, the historic site of Philadelphia’s first Memorial Day observance in 1868. The event honors veterans at the grave of General George Gordon Meade, renowned for his leadership at the Battle of Gettysburg. The service includes traditional tributes such as wreath-laying, an honor guard, and commemorative speeches. While admission is free, a suggested $5 donation helps support ongoing preservation efforts.
